About Me

Hello and welcome to my website.  I’m an amateur pianist living in a Chicago suburb with my husband and two sons. I was a stay-at-home mom while my boys were growing up, and practiced my piano every chance I could get….which wasn’t very often in the early days when in addition to being a wife and mother, I was also a Cub Scout leader, church choir accompanist, and a newsletter editor......

First blog

Written by

This is my first blog post for my first ever personal website.  The site is not done yet; there is still a lot of work to be done.  But I got tired of seeing the ‘test blog’ that’s been up here for a while and figured I should put up something better.  I created this website because I wanted a place to host my own piano recordings and over which I could have full control. I started making piano recordings when I stumbled upon the website, Pianosociety.com. Over the past ten years or so, I met some very nice people on the site and learned not only about how to produce piano recordings, but also a lot about classical piano music. My repertoire has grown immensely from having participated on Piano Society, and I will be forever grateful for the site's existence.

I've been an administrator on Piano Society for many years. This involves listening to new recordings submitted by our members (or people wishing to become members), processing the files, uploading them onto the main site, and then updating the web pages that correspond with the composer and pianist. It is time consuming work, as there is no fast way of doing things.  Unfortunately, Piano Society's days may be numbered; donations coming in to help pay for the cost of running the site have decreased, so the site may have to be shut down due to monetary reasons.  Even if it does remain up for a while, I’m not sure if the amount of work involved in being an administrator is worth what I personally get out of the site anymore. That’s why I figured to make my own website so that I can continue my hobby of making recordings and sharing them on the Internet.

So now I've got this website.  I intend to not only host all my recordings from Piano Society, but also upload new recordings.  Once in a while I make video recordings too, so I’ll put them on my YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/user/monicapiano), as well as here on my website.  I often find interesting articles or just plain funny things relating to music on the Internet, so I’ll probably post some of them here too.  Warning:  I have a goofy and sometimes weird sense of humor... :)

I am always happy to hear from other classical piano enthusiasts, so please feel free to comment on anything you see or hear. Or simply start up a new conversation here if you have something you’d like to share with me.

Ok, that’s about it for my first blog.  I hope to see some old friends here and also make some new friends.
